What an absolutely beautiful canvas!
That's so beautiful!
There was some great aboriginal art on display at the National Gallery when we visited last weekend. I don't think we "Australians" appreciate it enough.
Isn't it great! The colours just leap off the canvas at you.
Friends of mine have bought a few aboriginal canvases which I covet whenever I go to their place.
Actually, this Aussie and American husband do appreciate it. We have a number of paintings which we have purchased over the last 8 years. Some are by "known" artists - luckily purchased before they became really expensive. A couple are from a woman sitting on the ground in the Alice Springs park; one from a person beside the road in Lightning Ridge. I agree though, that most Australians do not seem to appreciate the indigenous art.

Wow, the colors are amazing!
Thank your for sharing this. I hope it's a traveling show I can catch sometime.

WOW! that is truly stunning! So much to look at!
I think we don't realise how innovative many of these artists are. Superb work
Aboriginal art is all about their connection to the earth and so they mainly use the colours of their own country. Isn't it brilliant!
I believe it is touring Australia currently - we saw it at the Nationla Museum in Canberra
Lots of the colours are mixed from rock and dirt from their own environment and they don't use brushes as do "Western" painters, they will use sticks and grass and bits of bark. Incredible craftsmenship.
There are a couple of collections in North Carolina which occasionally tour or open to the public (one is at one of the universities there but I can't remember which one). Also, the Women's Museum of Art here in DC had an exhibition 2 years ago - they were of paintings which belonged to Americans. Hopefully something comes near where Park Girl lives.
Absolutely stunning colours. I can imagine how spectacular it must look when you are actually standing in front of it.
