Almost everyone does the Ularu visit but a lot miss the
other great feature here. Kata Tjuta (the Olgas). It’s a bit further out but I
rate it more beautiful than the rock. Although the walks are shorter, there are
some challenging climbs that can have you down on all fours. The effort is well
rewarded though as you can see from the pics. I'm glad we didn't wait till retirement age. I might not have been able to do the more physical stuff.
We do these walks on our own but you can often get free
guides to explain what you are looking at. That’s probably fine but I rather
have a bit of peace and quite to do the places justice. Some of the tour groups
are quite noisy coming through. Perhaps next time I might take the tour.
The first 2 shots are taken from a distance and are panoramic. Kata Tjuta is much bigger than Uluru and made of composite rock material rather than the Felspar material of the rock.
The 3 rd shot is the approach to the first viewing platform. I didn't get a shot to the left of this. It looked like a good place to fake the Mars shots. The moon scored an appearance in the 4th pic of a towering column
Liz is challenged again in photo 5. She is starting to build some confidence on the steep stuff.
The 6th photo is viewing area 2. You can get the feel of the age of the place as you look at the walls and the surrounding erosion.

Never never is an old reference to the outback.
